A discovery flight isn't a sightseeing ride — it's a real first lesson. You'll taxi, take off, and fly the airplane yourself, with me right beside you the whole time.
What happens on a discovery flight
We start on the ground: a short, plain-English briefing and a walkaround of the airplane so you know what everything does and why pilots check it. Then we fly — climbs, turns, and the view of Lake Norman from a thousand feet up. You'll be on the controls for most of it. Back on the ground, we debrief honestly: what training would look like for you, what it costs, and whether flying is something you want to pursue. Total time is about an hour to an hour and a half, with roughly half of it in the air.
The flight is logged in your own logbook — if you continue training, this time counts toward your private pilot certificate. There's no commitment and no sales pitch. Most people walk away grinning either way.

Good to know
No experience or medical certificate is needed for a discovery flight — just show up. Wear comfortable clothes and sunglasses. Instruction is available in English or French. Weather calls are made conservatively; if the day isn't right, we reschedule at no cost.
