Flight Reviews & IPCs Near Charlotte
Everyone's rusty after time away — that's what the review is for. No judgment, no gotchas: just an honest hour of ground, an honest hour of flying, and a plan for whatever needs polish.
Flight reviews, tailored to how you fly
The FAA requires a flight review every 24 calendar months: at minimum an hour of ground discussion and an hour of flight with an instructor. I tailor both to what you actually fly and where — a weekend Skyhawk pilot, a returning aviator who hasn't flown in a decade, or someone stepping back in after a move. Come current and sharp, and it's a pleasant validation; come rusty, and we'll simply take the time to knock the rust off properly. My signature goes in your logbook when you're genuinely safe, and the goal is that you leave sharper than the regulation requires.
Instrument proficiency checks
If your instrument currency has lapsed beyond the point of self-recovery, an IPC is the way back. We'll rebuild scan, procedures, and approach skills at a comfortable pace in the Charlotte area's real IFR environment — and finish with an honest assessment, not a rubber stamp. IPCs pair naturally with a flight review if both are due. (IPCs require the CFII rating I add in August 2026 — flight reviews are available now.)
Scheduling & aircraft
Reviews are often done in a single visit to Lincoln County Regional Airport (KIPJ), with evenings and weekends available. Fly Premier Air's Cessna 172, Socata Tobago, or Piper Arrow — or ask about using your own airplane. Rates are simple: instruction $60/hour plus aircraft rental if you need one (see pricing).
